I would hope that the single parent would want to be involved in their kids life, and expect their SO at some point to accept it (especially after a year).

The date shes on right now could change her mind about everything. Well, I partially agree that spending time together at school will help, but at the same time i'm pessimistic about it because i don't want to let my guard down.
