I think in a way she feels safe with you and probably depends on you for a lot therefor she feels obligated to stay that and it was probably a lot harder out there on her own. It's hard to say but I think she left in search of freedom and indepence and found it was a harsh and unfreindly world therefore came back to you-her comfort zone.

For you to suffer in silence is not going to affect anybody but you and what a waste it would be since you have so much to offer. Pick yourself up from this and move on. But what would that prove?
